Remember those crappy square pieces of cafeteria Pizza served everyday back in elementary school? We got talking about it last night with the kids entering school. A couple questions?

Why have I never seen, or eaten that style of pizza since graduating high-school?
Where do they buy it from?
How do I get some now for nostalgia?

Sure I could show up at my kid's school, and eat lunch with him? Do they still sell it? Why is it we ate these fatty, greasy square slices of pizza with deep fried french fries everyday, and never get fat; but the moment I look at a Domino's sign now, I gain 15LBS?

So seriously, do you remember the square pizza slices? I want to buy some! Sure they probably taste like dirt now, but the nostalgia would be worth every last bite.

Ah yes, square pizza. And sometimes it would come with small chuncks of some low budget grade sausage on it. And the crazy thing is that it actually tasted good dipped in some of that generic ketchup the had in the lunchroom. I would never even think of putting ketchup on Dominos or Papa Johns. Oh, and that picture is classic. Only in the school lunchroom would they serve W.K. (Whole Kernal) Corn with pizza. 8)

I graduated in 1996. I'm assuming they still sell that epicurean delight.... :?

ACTUALLY I HAVE FOUND IF YOU BUY THE CHEAP MR. P'S PIZZA AND MICROWAVE IT ON 2 1/2 TO 3MIN. IT TASTE VERY CLOSE TO THE SCHOOL PIZZA ALTHOUGH IT IS ROUND IT STILL HAS THE LITTLE SQUARE PEPPERONI AND IT TASTE PRETTY CLOSE TO THE SAME.

Oh, I am pregnant, and I can't stop looking at the picture of the school pizza!! I really have to have some! Doesn't anyone know where to get this pizza? I don't want something like it, I need the real thing.

According to my inside mole (my son) they no longer serve this type of pizza at his school. In fact at my friend's daughter's school they serve Dominos now.

I understand the whole pregnant thing....

I remember a certain individual and cheery pie.....

Anyhow... For some reason I remember from back in my middle school days was it was some bulk- purchase from Tony's. I remember this because it seemed shocking to me to see my pizza come out of a box in 5th grade.

From working at a bakery with Shan, I'm quite certain the square size is a reflection of them baking on "full sheet" cake pans. They're then frozen and sent in a box. My guess is this is no longer the case. In fact I'm guessing the whole pizza technology thing has advanced so much that these square cafeteria pizzas are obsolete?

Though....
Here's one: Nardone Bros.

Rectangle School Pizza was made by Momma Rosa (TM) They have it at my local stores. Just remember, you have to nuke it for it to be just like Cafateria Pizza. Soggy and pasty.

Oh my goodness, I can't believe there's someone else out there who wants this pizza. I used to LOVE this pizza as a kid, rolled up with corn and applesauce, every Wednesday. I've always missed it, and have never been able to find out who made it, or how to possibly obtain it.

I know this was posted a year ago, but I just came across it in a search for school pizza. ;)

I am going to have to find out about Ann's Meat Market and see if it exists (I'm unfamiliar with Greensboro,) and see if they do indeed sell this.

It does, for sure, exist in schools today. I am an elem. librarian and my school serves it. In fact, we "privileged" teachers can request it every day of the week, but no corn (student allergies). I would love to find it in a store somewhere so my husband and I could both enjoy it.

Update: I have found that you can order it from GFS stores (Gordon Food Service Supermarkets) - they don't carry it in the store - but it costs about $40+ for a case of 96....you may want to find some people to split it with you unless you really are feeding an entire elem. school!

I have been trying to find the answer to this question for some time now! I'm thrilled that I found this! Pizza day at school was my favorite. Well, that and Italian dunkers. I'm going to check out GFS and see if anyone wants a blast from the past to share with me! I'm so happy now! Thanks everyone!

Hi I actually checked the website and couldn't locate this information either. I've even thought about call a few elementary schools and talking to the cafeteria staff about who they use as a food distributor. Maybe this will answer some questions. I haven't had those little sausage square pizzas in about 15 years... Lets try to find them people..

OK I think i found it finally. I have been doing a ton of online searching. First i found some copy cats like ellio's pizza..close, but not exactly what were looking for. Check this out http://www.nardonebros.com/Products/~rectangle.html I checked some information about a company in PA that sells school institutional type pizza. This looks like a dead ringer to me. Hope this helps Enjoy!. I will order a box of these and report back. The only issue I see is that they come in a box of 96 (wow) while your on their site you can check other pizzas out.. I'm aiming for the sausage rectangle pizza myself..

Well... That would screw over the diet..... now wouldn't it....

I ate enough low-fat pizza tonight to feed a horse... Made some more deep-dish pizzas... atleast they were vegetarian with low fat provolone....

As soon as I get done being sick, I'm going to spend a month on the treadmill.

I am wondering as to whether or not this will even fit in my freezer, let alone my oven! Weren't there 16 on a sheet, 4x4? They are each 4" x 6", so that's 16" x 24"... Maybe, but it'll be close... I am seriously considering it...

I asked Shannon whom is our Bakery expert, and she states "she believes" a "full-sheet" would fit in a conventional oven... I'd concur as well, but it would be a tight fit.
