For those who want a Religious Right education

What The Funk?

Seems that to get a proper Religious Right education -- one that presents the world from the "unique" view of history and science that the American Taliban has -- one only need to go to the "Madrassas" of Bobby Jindal's Louisiana.

There, with the support of the Republican administration, the state is "educating" children using history text books published by Bob Jones University.

Under a voucher system introduced by the state's governor Bobby Jindal – a rising star of the Republican party – pupils attending 119 schools in the state, many of them run by the religious right, will be reading textbooks which tell them that dinosaurs co-existed with humans, slaves did not have it so bad and the Ku Klux Klan had some good points. Oh, and that Mark Twain was hopeless and Emily Dickinson, who spent much of her life shut up in her house in Amherst writing poetry, was presumptuous and disrespectful – both of them because they apparently had doubts about the beneficence of the Almighty.

Recently, Jindal has been working to rehabilitate his national image after his idiotic performance giving a "rebuttal" speech after Obama's first State of the Union speech, in which he ridiculed government "waste" on volcano and climate research. I'm just glad that the GUARDIAN is out there helping remind us just how bloody dangerous these latter day Republitards are. So long as they help steer the country into obvious lunacy like this, they are not fit to help run a modern, enlightened civilization. Work like this only serves to drag us back toward the Dark Ages... something no one needs. Except perhaps the mental dinosaurs at Bob Jones U.
