Oklahoma carves their stupidity in stone

What The Funk?

Postby A Person » Mon Nov 19, 2012 4:51 pm

Oklahoma spent $20,000 to erect a stone monument, carved with the Ten Commandments, at their capitol. Of course it's unconstitutional, but it also reflects the standard of eddymcation in Oklahoma. "Sabbath" is misspelled as "Sabbeth," the word "maidservant" is misspelled as "maidseruant." and there is a missing apostrophe from the word "neighbor's."

As Rick Perry would say: "Whoops"

So it will be re-carved, replaced and then removed as it will be challenged by the ACLU and/or Freedom From Religion Foundation. Or maybe Oklahoma will declare that the Ten Commandments aren't religious in any way and are part of the Constytootun, or would have been if it hadn't been written by pesky non-Christians

You'd think that anyone charging $2000 per commandment would have incentive to get each one right.

The whole thing is pathetic. They can't be bothered to get "The Word Of God" (TM) right yet they want to make sure the State pushes it onto people. If it's important enough to piss on the constitution for, you'd think it would be important to spell right - but clearly it's only the pissing that is important to them.

Shouldn't it really be in Latin. Important stuff is always in Latin.

If they carved it in Latin, no one would be able to tell that it was misspelled.

Clearly most people couldn't tell in English.
