Routing Numbers: JP Morgan Chase, US Bank, Washington Mutual

The numbers located on the bottom of your check is called a MICR line. The MICR line is an acronym for Magnetic Image Character Recognition. The MICR line consists of 3 elements, those being, a routing transit number (also known as an ABA number) or bank Number, an account number, and the check number.

A routing transit number (RTN) or ABA number is a nine digit code, used in the United States, which for instance appears on the bottom of negotiable instruments such as checks that identifies which financial institution it is drawn upon. This code is also used by the Automated Clearing House to process direct deposits and other automated transfers. This system is named after the American Bankers Association, which designed it in 1910. While in the past this was generally performed manually, today the Bank Number provides instantaneous access for funds over secure networks without the need for physical duplication.

Please note that your "Time to reorder" slip does not denote your routing number, also deposit slip routing numbers are typically different than your checks. When conducting business, you should always provide your check routing number.

US Bank has chosen not to publish their routing numbers on the web, as you can see here on their website. They actually suggest that you call them at 800-720-BANK, likely so they get a chance to market their additional services to you. I've compiled a list below, which is as official as you're going to get, however you can also obtain your routing number and account number from a canceled or voided check. The routing number for a deposit slip will be different then that of your checks.

US Bank has several routing numbers that correspond to the state by which the account was opened in.

Careful, I live in CT and have the NY routing number printed on my checks!

Did you open the account in New York?

Or are you a former Bank One customer?

I'm guessing the later of the two, by which a conversion was done. So now you are officially in New York

There is the last number missing for the Routing Number for Texas 6 the rigth number is 111993776

All of these routing numbers are wrong. They are all one digit short. These routing numbers are eight digits while real routing numbers are nine digits. For instance, you list Washington as 125 000 10. The correct routing number for US Bank in Washington is 125 000 105.

Last digit is a check digit.

what's the key for the check digit then?

Take every other digit and multiply by the last four digits of your social security number, then take the fractional number from the top right hand corner of your check and subtract your last check number and then add 69. Divide by 0, add pi and subtract the two figures. That's your check digit.

Checksum d9 = (10 − (3(d1 + d4 + d7) + 7(d2 + d5 + d8) + 1(d3 + d6))mod 10)mod 10
where d1 is the first digit, d2 the second etc
