And I'll tell you, I had an experience at THAT emergency room once, long ago. Our son (yeah, the guy with the PhD) was about 2 years old and had just eaten a whole bottle of aspirins. Kids...

We went in there of a Sunday morning, told the nurse this, and they told us to wait. And we waited. I don't recall seeing ANY people in the waiting area. But we had to wait over ab hour before they called us in to look at the kid.

They treated him... then had the NERVE to tell us that his system had been on the verge of collapse due to the OD. They said we should have brought him in a LOT more quickly. I was too flabbergasted to react. If that happened today, I'd have ended up getting arrested. For inserting the man's stethoscope in an unnatural place. And TWISTING.

His mother claims he was dying, but the hospital believes that cancer patients should just "man-up" and deal with it. In the end, the patient arrived at his mother's door-step, cold and dead.

This of course took place in Fayetteville, about 1 hour from my home. I flew to LA out of their airport just weeks ago. This, in a state, with top universities, and medical facilities (or so I've been told). I've found little evidence that any of our health-care in NC is the best. My personal experiences is that a lot of people are dying because the medical field is seen more as a get-rich-scheme, which even when practitioners are genuinely invested, a system of laws and insurance companies dictate a sub-par health system.

The whole system is designed to diagnose you with an outcome that is cheapest for the insurance company, most profitable for the hospital, and gets you out the door (and into a taxi), whereby accounts payable can collect on you. Welcome to America, the home of the best health care in the world.

Pickup lines at a bar counter, co-workers and after work dinners, or charisma and charm that says to her "let me change your world tonight"?

Fortunately there are many lovely women who are interested in 'bed' with a slightly overweight (but otherwise fit ) divorced, middle aged man. 8)

When I was doing the Camino, the girl beside me that night told me I had the whole hostel laughing.

I'd add:

7. Stealing the bed in general
8. Snoring

and in Shannon's case:

9. Odd arm movements which seem possessed by the devil.

Oh and...

10. Farting

I can't stand farting in bed. Especially in the winter when the windows are closed.
