Why do ghosts wear clothes?

Every haunted house story you hear always has a ghost dressed in old fashioned period clothes dating back decades and even centuries. If ghosts were actually human spirits, don't you think they would be naked? I mean, c'mon now, is there a spectral Walmart somewhere on an offramp on the astral plane? 8)

You know, Ive wondered that myself. lol
John Cleese: The audience is too uninformed. I blame the Americans. Nation of obese, violent, pig-ignorant, bible-thumping morons contaminating world culture. That’s why I spend most of my time here in France.. Beautiful isn’t it? Just look at those olive trees.

Interviewer: This is Santa Barbara.

Maybe there is some un-written rule that you get stuck in the clothes you die in.

Maybe they have a union... and lets be honest, unclothed ghosts would be very hard to take seriously in the 'scare' category.

"The Sixth Sense" would've had a whole new conceptual directon as Bruce Willis is brought up on charges for exposing himself to children. "I see dead people... make the scary wrinkly man put on a robe"

Maybe they are naked, but our minds refuse to accept it, and we cloth them in our minds. Let's call it the theory of relative perception in ghosts.

As long as you call it theory and not fact. LOL

Another question just occurred to me. Why is it the living can see the dead but the dead can't see the living? This would be heaven for exhibitionists everywhere. They could expose themselves to whomever they wanted to without fear of reprisal. If the dead could see and talk with the living then death would lose it's mystery.

Slimer wasn't a ghost... he was an apparition, there's a huge difference.... although I'm not sure I have a clue what it is...

OK scratch that,

Slimer was Jello gone bad. Wait... Jello possessed.

Because I'm a complete geek, I was watching the Ghostbusters DVD commentary and it was mentioned that Slimer was actually conceptualized as John Belushi's ghost.

I don't know if you've seen the British show 'Coupling', but they had a hillarious (and quite brilliant) idea of a 'porn buddy'. Both friends agree to trade keys to each other's flat, then upon the notification of the other's demise would rush over, let themselves in, and destroy all their porn before family and friends went through the belongings. LOL.. I loved that show.

You know it's funny we've brought this topic up, because I was thinking with all the remakes they've been doing now, isn't Ghostbusters about due?
