Baby pronounced dead lives after hours in cooler

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - A stillborn Israeli baby who was pronounced dead by doctors "came back to life" on Monday after spending hours in a hospital refrigerator.

The baby, weighing only 600 grams at birth, spent at least five hours inside one of the hospital's refrigerated storage units, before her parents, who had taken her to be buried, began noticing some movement.

"We unwrapped her and felt she was moving. We didn't believe it at first. Then she began holding my mother's hand, and then we saw her open her mouth," said 26-year-old Faiza Magdoub, the baby's mother.

The baby was pronounced dead several hours earlier, after doctors at Western Galilee hospital in northern Israel were forced to abort her mother's pregnancy because of internal bleeding. Magdoub was 23 weeks into her pregnancy.

"We don't know how to explain this, so when we don't know how to explain things in the medical world we call it a miracle, and this is probably what happened," hospital deputy director Moshe Daniel said.

The baby was then taken to the hospital's neonatal intensive care unit for further treatment, but doctors were not sure how long she will live.

Motti Ravid, a professor of internal medicine, told Israel's Channel 10 that the low temperature inside the cooler had slowed down the baby's metabolism and likely helped her survive.

There is still hope for the unbelieving members here.

1 Corinthians 15:1-11
1 Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.
3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; 7 then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles; 8 and last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared to me also. 9 For I am the least of the apostles, and not fit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me. 11 Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed.

You know it died after that, right?

The "dead" miscarried fetus brought to a hospital morgue who started moving when taken by her father for burial on Monday was not a "medical miracle," said a leading Jerusalem neonatologist on Tuesday.

Premature baby dies in Nahariya

The infant, weighing 610 grams and born after 23 weeks of gestation, breathed her last on Tuesday morning despite doctors' frantic efforts to save her. She was buried in the Western Galilee village of Kafr Yasif later in the day.

Didn't read it though.. Read the newspaper. Knew about the article from the first couple of words and his comment then hit him with the reality. Not that he would acknowledge it. I'm sure the baby is now on the fast track to college or something in your world.. oh, I'm sorry, in seminary (that better?).

He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. 27 And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, 28 so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him.

If done with intent..however there were 2 articles on this. The original (RD has shown) and shortly after the followup (I supplied). So unless there is evidence to the contrary, there is reasonable doubt that he may not have seen the followup.

Second question: If one WILLFULLY doesn't see the second article.. are they lying to themselves? I know, I know.. rhetorical.

It is interesting, the translations of that verse. In most "modern" versions, the word they use is "tumors." The KJV says "emerods," which of course isn't very commonly used English any more. Just say "hemorrhoids" or "itchybutts." Works either way.

Promised Messiah 1835-1908 Says:

From the mere fact of Jesus not being in the tomb, can anybody in reason believe that he had gone up to heaven? May there not be other causes as a result of which tombs might remain empty. At the time of going up to heaven, it was up to Jesus to meet a few hundred Jews, and also Pilate. Whom was he afraid of in his glorious body. He did not care to furnish his opponents with the slightest proof. On the contrary, he took fright and fled to Galilee.

That is why we positively believe that though it is true that he left the tomb, a chamber with an opening, and though it is true that he secretly met the disciples, yet it is not true that he was given any new and glorious body; it was the same body, and the same wounds, and there was the same fear in his heart lest the accursed Jews arrest him again.

Just read attentively Matthew, chapter 28, verses 7 to 10. These verses clearly say that the women who were told by someone that Jesus was alive and was going to Galilee, and who were also told quietly that they should inform the disciples, were no doubt pleased to hear this, but they went with a terrified heart, — they were still afraid lest Jesus might still be caught by some wicked Jew.

The ninth verse says, that while these women were on their way to inform the disciples, Jesus met and saluted them. The tenth verse says that Jesus asked them not to be afraid, i.e. of his being caught; he asked them to inform his brethren that they should all go to Galilee; that they would see him there, i.e., he could not stay there for fear of the enemy.

In short, if Jesus had really come to life after his death and had assumed a glorious body, it was up to him to furnish proof of such life to the Jews. But we know that he did not do this. It is absurd, therefore, to accuse the Jews of trying to render negatory the proof of Jesus’ coming to life again. No, Jesus himself has not given the slightest proof of his restoration to life; rather, by his secret flight, by the fact of his taking food, and sleep, and exhibiting his wounds, he himself proved that he did not die on the Cross.

I would humbly request all the searching souls to form their own truthful opinion and when fully satisfied they should accept the truth and support it.

I don't know about the way others view things, but for myself, I think I have made enough inquiries into the matter of religion to truthfully say I can't believe in any sort of supernatural existence. That is the truth I accept and support, at least provisionally. If anyone comes out with new information that calls into question my views, I have no problem with re-visiting the matter. In almost a decade of non-belief, I have not encountered anything new from "the other side."

My comments: There are SO many holes in your thinking that I believe that not even the scientific thinking community would agree with your conclusions. A man that was beaten so badly (almost to death) and then crucified on the cross. For that man to appear three days later and to preach as much as he did without infirmity or pain should tell you that he was truly risen.

Just what does the story of the baby intended to show? That God resurrected the baby only to change his mind?
Or that resurrection is possible, or that apparently dead bodies can self-resuscitate, that hypothermia can allow bodies to survive for extended periods without oxygen?

All of this is well known.

Newborn infants have what seem to us to be extraordinary abilities for survival. The process of birth trigger huge changes on the body to divert blood from the placenta to the lungs, initiating breathing and firing up the digestive system, newborn babies can survive uite long delays in these processes. In this case an apparently dead newborn showed reflex actions after a few hours in a refrigerator but failed to live.

Likewise there are numerous examples of executed people coming back to life. Apparent corpses have'come back to life' on autopsy tables. All this says is that even modern doctors can be mistaken with hasty declarations of death.

Crucifixion was by no means a certain death and there are many documented examples of people surviving crucifixion e.g. Josephus. It was also a slow process with death usually brought on only after the legs were broken. In the case of Jesus, Pilate (who had no desire to crucify Jesus in the first place) was amazed at how quickly he had succumbed 15:44 And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead but took the word of the sympathetic Centurion so his 'body' was removed without breaking any bones.

BecauseHeLives wrote: For that man to appear three days later and to preach as much as he did without infirmity or pain should tell you that he was truly risen.
How much did he preach? And what makes you say it was without infirmity or pain?

Most of the people to whom he appeared failed to recognise him or saw him in 'another form':
John 20:14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.
Luke 24:15/16 And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.
Mark 16:12 After that he appeared in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country
so it is at best questionable how genuine many of these sightings were
Obviously you do not know what a hyperbolic chamber actually is. That's ok. I'm used to you pretending to know what you are talking about BecauseHeLives, 2009 August 16
