The Garbage Burger

Wimpy'sGarbage Burger: lettuce, tomato, pickle, chili, mustard, ketchup,
chili, slaw, cheese and God knows what else.
Since arriving back in the U.S. in September, I've seen a lot of rain, snow and very poor weather. I never thought I'd say this, but I miss the weather in the U.K. - In fact, I haven't seen a real summer in over a year and half. Having just purchased a convertible Mustang and with the weather approaching the mid-70s, it was time to drop the top and head to Wimpy's (an institution and local favorite) in Durham for a Garbage Burger.

Say what? Oh yes, this place was on Man Vs Food and makes one Hell of a double cheeseburger with all the goodies. In fact, it's the first burger with a bun that I've eaten since May and it was bloody flipping amazing. Of course, sitting in the sun with a tank-top on and having a little post meal retail therapy didn't hurt either.

In fact I found this entire shopping complex in Cary filled with Indian restaurants and clothing. Between the burger and some new clothes, this day was completely first class.

So here's the thing. Wimpy's lives up to the hype. For about $8, you get probably one of the best and biggest chili cheeseburgers I've ever had. If you want a good Sunday drive or live near Durham, then you've got to go. It's one of my new favorites. The chili is off the hook.

It's cash only, no indoor seating.... so bring the convertible and enjoy the drive-in experience with this amazing burger that's anything but garbage.
